Beijing is one of the most famous restaurants in China Town. It is old and every Bengali food lover has gone to Beijing at some point in time. Yesterday, I wanted to indulge in some Chinese foods and hence I decided to visit Beijing. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. Beijing was so disastrous that I’m stunned. (Yes, zomato urges us to be nice and polite with reviews, but today I felt betrayed and cheated. So, I will speak my mind out) I am deeply disappointed with the staff and the food. So much, that I did something which I never did in my life before. I cleared the bill and left the restaurant midway. I did not feel like completing my dinner and with this quality, I’d not prefer to go to Beijing ever. I am angry because I had memories of good food tied with this restaurant, and today I lost everything. 

Ambience and Staff
Beijing is spacious. No doubts about that. When I entered, no one came forward to show me a table. I had to go and ask where I may find a seat. Though I could see a cluster of 3-4 waiters chatting, it took 15mins for one of them to come to us for our order. 15mins is quite some time. Once the order was placed, which included two Budweiser beers, we had to wait for approx. 15 more minute for the beer to be served. I have never experienced such slow and lethargic service ever in my life.

Spring Button Mushroom; Prawn Crackers; Pepper Chilli garlic prawn
** Though I had elaborate plans, all was cut short due to terrible service and food.

Spring Button Mushroom is the dish you could see below. The mushroom, yes, was fresh. But that’s all. I did not taste or smell anything, in this dish. The coating on the mushroom was not crispy as well. Soggy fried Mushroom. That’s all it was.

Pepper Chilli Garlic Prawn is another fiasco i led myself into. Again, the prawn was fresh. But the dish was absolutely nothing. Fried Prawns tossed with burnt garlic and Chilli. The garlic was too burnt to even taste anything. The prawn though fried was undercooked. Such separate tastes, it was absolutely horrible. At a point, i really wanted to meet the head chef to know whats the problem.

Prawn Crackers is the best thing i enjoyed at Beijing. Plain prawn crackers with beer. If you love food and you hail from Kolkata, imagine this. The best thing I liked was prawn-f*@king-crackers.

I am disappointed, disheartened and angry with Beijing for destroying a good food joint. It runs purely on its previously gained fame. Which won’t last long if this is how things are. I cannot rate Beijing over 1.
