Ping’s Cafe Orient

Ping’s Cafe Orient is a place the brings authentic oriental tastes from regions like Indonesian, Thailand, etc.

The ‘ambience and decor’ is very quiet. The place properly lit and gave me a thai cafe like feeling. Strike one on first impression.

What i ordered.
Chilli Baby Potatoes; Three Mushrooms with Asparagus; Minced tenderloin with chilies and holy basil; XO Prawn (Variant).

Preparation and Presentation.
The Chilli Baby Potatoes were fresh and fried perfectly. The potato had a distinct crunch on the outside and yet the inside was soft. Things like this keeps the diner’s attention to the food.

A very original mix of cremini, button and shiitake mushrooms with Asparagus came in second. Appropriately cooked, the complex taste of Asparagus with lemon grass with properly cooked Mushrooms made a complete package. Difficult but rightly done.

Minced Tenderloin with chilies and holy basil is basically a salad with style. Like all salads, the vegetables were fresh and mixed in right proportion which went perfectly with my taste.

I wanted to have a spicy some thing of prawn with no coating on the prawn. The waiter after discussion with the chef, informed me that they can try a variant of XO Prawn. I liked the boldness of the chef going off the usual menu. These signs go down really well with diners. The experience of this variant was quite exquisite. The prawn was crispy fried but the layer was very thin. Once i went deep, it was fresh prawn with the perfectly sunk in taste of the XO sauce. The XO sauce, garlic and prawn mixed to give a very unique bold taste.

Overall loved this place. This place has a lot to offer and i’m interested. Would be dropping by soon.
